PRESS RELEASE

California Schools Lowest in Proficiency

California ranks at the bottom on proficiency outcome. 8th grade proficiency: 27.1% (math) 28.4% (reading). The state legislature is the core of this problem, mandating non-academic courses, and coddling teachers’ unions. Hit hardest are students in lower income areas.

We deserve better. Let’s retire the incumbent State Senator in District 17, who has spent 20 years in the legislature, voting consistently to degrade learning and to cater to teacher unions, who are his biggest donor. Join me in voting for Tony Virrueta for State Senate. Tony will fight for our students.

Team Tony
